The Red Cross is helping a family that’s out of their home south of Mendota after a fire yesterday morning. Mendota Fire Chief Dennis Rutishauser says the fire started in the basement. The cause is being investigated. Everyone who lives in the home got out without being hurt. Other fire departments that helped were Troy Grove, Earlville, LaSalle, and Peru.
