A Streator man who allegedly fired a gun inside a home Saturday night and then fled was found Monday afternoon. LaSalle County Sheriff’s deputies and Streator police were looking for 34-year old Elijah P. Fortson. They found him about 38 hours later.

Fortson is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a FOID card, and violating bail conditions. More charges are possible.

Deputies say Fortson fired the gun when at least three people were present inside his estranged wife’s rural Streator home Saturday night. He had allegedly threatened to shoot himself. Deputies spotted him leaving his mother’s home Monday afternoon and eventually found him after a foot chase and a search with a police dog.
