Illinois Valley Community College is trying its ground-only flight school class again. After just two classes in March, the pandemic forced a cancellation. But a new class for prospective pilots is starting Saturday next week.

Mike Padilla is the instructor. He says if you’re at least 15 years old, you can learn everything you need to know while on the ground to prepare for flight lessons in the air.

The class will use flight simulators at the Illinois Valley Regional Airport in Peru. It will be held on most Saturdays from September 12 through December 5.
