Yesterday afternoon on 1430 WCMY.. The White Sox hit four home runs as they blasted the Pirates 10-3 at Guaranteed Rate Field.  Dallas Keuche got the win after allowing just two runs over six innings for the Sox, who have won nine of 10.  Chicago is off today before hosting the Royals tomorrow night. 

 

The Cubs late rally fell short in a 7-6 loss to the Tigers in Detroit.  Chicago scored three runs in the ninth to make it close.  Kyle Schwarber homered and Anthony Rizzo drove in a pair for the Cubs, who dropped two of three in the series.  Chicago is off today before visiting the Reds tomorrow night.

 

Colten Wong’s bases-loaded walk-off walk capped off a four-run rally in the ninth inning that lifted the Cardinals over the Royals 6-5 at Busch Stadium. Alex Reyes got the win for the Cards, who have won four out of five.  St. Louis hosts the Pirates in a doubleheader today.

 

The big news from sports yesterday was games being postponed in protest of the police shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin this past weekend. It all started in the afternoon when the Milwaukee Bucks boycotted their game 5 in the NBA playoffs against the Orlando Magic.  Following the news of the NBA playoff games being postponed, Three Major League Baseball games, Major League Soccer and the WNBA games were also postponed due to the protesting players. The MLB reported they will reschedule the games in doubleheaders moving forward. 

 

The NBA’s Board of Governors and the players are expected to hold meetings today to decide the fate of the season. Multiple reports say the two sides will hold separate meetings to determine how to proceed with the NBA playoffs.

 

The Chicago Sky are scheduled to face the Indiana Fever tonight in Bradenton, Florida.  No official reports of any postponements for the WNBA today.

At Edgebrook Golf Club in McNabb, The Marquette Crusaders boys golf team were the victors with a score 181 on wednesday’s triangular contest hosted by Putnam County. Woodland placed second with a 203. 

At Highpoint Golf Course in Essex, the Streator Bulldogs improved to 2-0 in the Illinois Central Eight Conference with the dual victory over the Reed-Custer Comets.

The L-P Lady Cavaliers lost to Geneseo at The Oak Ridge golf club yesterday. Grace Antle and Avah Moriarty led The Cavaliers with scores of 54.
