Ottawa fire fighters needed an hour to put out a pile of burning logs Friday night. A property owner in the 1800 block of Poplar had piled up cut up tree branches and trunks. It’s illegal to burn things like that under city ordinance.
The city is providing pickup and dropoff for branches for storm cleanup after the derecho of August 10. That’s still going on, because of the extent of the damage throughout the city.
As of this morning, Ottawa police hadn’t reported whether a ticket was written in the case from Poplar St. Friday.
