Supt. Jim Carlson at Seneca High School is delighted how well things went for the first day of school Wednesday. Seneca High is big enough to accommodate all the students every day.
Things are different though. There are arrows on the floors telling which way people may go. There are separate staircases for up and down now. And the students must either have their temperatures taken when they enter or come with parental certification that their temperatures are okay.
Remote learning is an option, but nearly all Seneca High students are going in person. Principal Marty Voiles told the school board last night that 27 students are doing remote learning out of 391 enrolled altogether. Carlson says they connect via Zoom during class times, so teachers are talking to classes in person and students watching via Zoom at the same time.
