A small child left alone in a Mendota apartment last Friday is doing well after a fire inside. But a woman who allegedly left the child there is facing child endangerment charges. Mendota police arrested 25-year old Alina C. Hernandez this afternoon.
Mendota fire fighters went to the apartment Friday afternoon after food burning on the stove set off an alarm. After breaking in, fire fighters found the child unresponsive in the living room. The child went to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. No one else was in the apartment at the time.
