The updated schedule has the White Sox off today and starting tomorrow with a double header at Guaranteed Rate field when they host the St louis Cardinals who have been out of action since July 29th due to positive tests of Covid-19. Pre-game starts at 12:35 with the 1st pitch at 1:10 pm.
The Cardinals are bringing up top prospect Dylan Carlson. Carlson headlines five players that the club will be promoting for the weekend’s series. His debut has been long awaited by fans and the organization.
Yu Darvish took a no-hitter into the seventh inning as the Cubs doubled up the Brewers 4-2 in Chicago. Darvish allowed just the one hit and struck out 11 in seven innings of work for his third win. Kyle Schwarber homered for the Cubs, who have won three in-a-row and nine of their last 10 games. The series continues tonight with Tyler Chatwood getting the start against Milwaukee’s Brandon Woodruff.
The Blackhawks stormed back from a two-goal deficit with a trio of goals in the second period but fell to the Golden Knights, 4-3, in overtime in Game Two. Vegas has taken a 2-0 series lead. The Hawks Patrick Kane posted an assist on all three goals. Chicago and Vegas square off again tomorrow night in Game Three.
The Chicago Sky face the Connecticut Sun tonight in the WNBA bubble. Chicago defeated the Phoenix Mercury, 89-71, on Wednesday. The Sky improved to 6-and-3.
Serena Williams rallied to beat her older sibling Venus in the second round of the Top Seed Open in Lexington. Serena won in the 31st pro meeting between the two sisters on Thursday.
The NCAA has called off all fall championship events except for major college football at this time because of the limited number of schools competing in sports. NCAA President Mark Emmert made the announcement in a video posted on Twitter, although it has been clear this was coming as conferences canceled fall sports seasons because of the pandemic.
