The LaSalle County Health Department recorded 54 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, breaking the record for the highest single-day case increase. The previous record of 52 was set last week. The county total is at 882 cases. The people who tested positive range in age from under thirteen years old to their 100s.
Twenty-one new recoveries were also announced for a recovery rate of 38.1 percent. 336 recoveries have been tallied so far.
Illinois surpassed 200,000 total cases today, reporting 1,834 new cases. Twenty-four additional deaths were also reported for a total of 7,696.
The state also announced they performed 46,000 tests in one day. 1,628 people are currently hospitalized for the virus in Illinois.
