A few people are suing ComEd for refunds to all customers to make up for rate increases that may have covered the cost of bribery the company admitted to last week. Some state lawmakers are pushing a resolution to ask Congress to give ComEd customers refunds from the fine the company paid.

ComEd admitted bribing people associated with Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan for help passing legislation that benefited the company. The $200 million fine goes to the U.S. Treasury.

St. Sen. Sue Rezin is co-sponsoring Illinois Senate Resolution 1290, which asks Congress to take that money and pay it directly to ComEd customers or to the Illinois Commerce Commission. The ICC would then distribute the funds to customers.

UPDATE: Republican St. Sen. Brian Stewart is also co-sponsoring the resolution.
