The Illinois Department of Public Health has increased the warning level for LaSalle County on COVID-19. The department says more people under age 29 are getting the virus. Younger people are also visiting bars and attending larger social gatherings, making it more likely they’ll spread the virus. There are more large family and social gatherings. And there are inconsistencies with mask requirements.

The LaSalle County Health Department issued a statement Friday saying so-called community spread, where it’s not possible to pinpoint where someone got the virus, is the rule here. Everyone is encouraged to use face coverings and stay six feet away from other people to help curb the spread.
