Grundy County is now in the same region as LaSalle County in the Restore Illinois reopening plan. That’s what St. Rep. David Welter wanted in May. More than 4,400 people signed a petition he started for the change. Grundy County was in the same region as Chicago, meaning businesses in Morris and other communities nearby would stay closed or reopen with the same restrictions in effect in Cook County. Changes announced Wednesday expand the number of regions from four to 11 with several new regions carved out from the greater Chicago area on the map issued in May.
