The LaSalle County Health Department had its first day of drive-through COVID-19 testing on Wednesday at the Emergency Management Agency Building at the Etna Road government complex in Ottawa. Health Educator Jenny Barrie says fifteen people were tested and things went smoothly. Tests take three to five days to process.

Barrie says anyone can get tested for free – even without a doctor’s note. But, they have to call the health department and make an appointment. Barrie says anyone who tests negative needs to remember they can still get infected. She’s asking everyone to continue social distancing and follow safety recommendations even as more things reopen.

The health department can be reached at 815-433-3366.
