SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Health officials say an additional 29 people in Illinois have died from the coronavirus, bringing the total number of deaths to 6,289. The Illinois Department of Public Health said Saturday that 12 of the deaths occurred in Cook County. The department says there are 673 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide, bringing the total to 131,871 cases. More than 1.1 million people have been tested in Illinois.

The LaSalle County Health Department reports no new cases as of Saturday. The county’s case count remains at 177 so far, including 116 recoveries and 16 deaths.
