The LaSalle County Health Department is expecting to get a grant for $2.8 million to test people for the coronavirus. The county’s finance director, Joyce Tucker, announced that to the County Board earlier this week. She explained creating a new line in the budget to account for the grant and how it’s used. Tucker says so far, the county has spent $42,000 on things related to the pandemic.

The cyber attack on the county’s computer systems has cost more than $66,000 so far. Those numbers are tallied in reports that went before the board. The county has paid for new computer equipment and for people to restore data. Board Chairman Jim Olson believes insurance will cover most of the costs.
