St. Rep. Lance Yednock says essential workers shouldn’t have to face threats from people who don’t like to follow rules set for employee safety. He voted for a bill to make it an aggravated battery if someone attacks an essential worker while he or she is on the job. That ups the penalties from a lesser battery charge.
Yednock, an Ottawa Democrat, says the bill will give workers at gas stations and many other businesses protection. The other representatives and Senators from this area also voted for the bill. It has not been sent to the governor yet though.
The bill number is SB471.
