A man who reportedly jumped off the Interstate 39 Abraham Lincoln bridge into the Illinois River may be alive. Illinois State Police are investigating some information that he’s alive somewhere. A State Police spokesman says the information is tentative and that’s all that’s available right now.
The report of a man jumping into the river went to State Police about 11am Saturday. Some searchers stationed themselves on the Illinois 351 bridge a mile downstream to watch for a body while other searchers on watercraft looked on the river. The search ended at sundown with no results.
