The Illinois Valley Mask Initiative has made more than 7,200 masks. People who know how to sew well are making them for nursing homes, other businesses, and the general public. Kate Reynolds, one of the administrators for the Facebook group, says the masks aren’t of N-95 medical quality. But they’re reusable.
Nearly 1,400 of the masks have been put in a bin at the Ottawa police station. It’s replenished with about 300 at a time every few days. Reynolds says the group welcomes people who are very good at sewing or who can provide supplies.
