Swimming, softball, and other Ottawa City Recreation summer activities are cancelled. Director Mark Astle says he hates doing that, but it’s too hard to plan anything right now without knowing what restrictions will be in place as the pandemic eases up or doesn’t.
He says there will be activities, starting in the middle of next month, that encourage people to be active without bringing them together, such as scavenger hunts, crossword puzzles that require visits to places to answer, and a patriotic photo contest.
For adult activities, he’s hoping to have softball in August. But he’s not going to try to organize anything sooner in haste. Astle says he’s not going to do something half-way.
