Republican State Representative David Welter of Morris is calling criminal penalties imposed by Gov. Pritzker for small businesses that reopen during the stay at home order outrageous and wrong. He says it’s a bizarre world where prison inmates are being released to avoid spreading the coronavirus, but small business owners can be hit with fines and possibly jail time just for opening up shop. Welter says he’ll fight the new penalties.
Morris Republican State Senator Sue Rezin calls the new rules inexcusable and unacceptable. She says he governor sidestepped the legislative branch and that she looks forward to opposing the new rules.
