The people paying $300 to learn how to become master gardeners will learn in-depth about plants, how they grow, soil, diseases that affect plants, and more. University of Illinois Extension Program Coordinator Meg Overocker says many of them will go on to develop community projects involving gardening. Some of them will be the people who answer the master gardeners help phone when people want to know about things they find growing in their yards.
The extension service is taking reservations for the next week or so for the online class that starts next month.
