Republican lawmakers are asking for public hearings on Gov. Pritzker’s plans to reopen the state. St. Sen. Brian Stewart from the 45th District wants legislative leaders to schedule a public hearing when the lawmakers return to Springfield for business next Wednesday. He says the executive and legislative branches should be involved in crafting the plan and lawmakers should get to ask the governor’s staff how they made their decisions.
St. Sen. Sue Rezin wants more than one hearing. She says the governor has been the only person making decisions about a pandemic that has affected nearly everyone. Rezin says the public deserves transparency.
