Marseilles City Hall is asking for a state grant to fund infrastructure construction out to I-80 north of town. Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says the city has almost annexed its way all the way to the interstate.
Hollenbeck says the city has been trying to expand up to I-80 at least since he moved to town in 1975. The city so far has expanded up to the Morris Blacktop. Hollenbeck expects have annexed up to I-80 within the next few months. The city council approved applying for the grant Wednesday.
