Ottawa YMCA director believes rec center project will boost business downtown

The people behind the community recreation center plan in Ottawa believe the former Central School track by the Illinois River is a great location for it. Joe Capece, the executive director of the Ottawa YMCA, says it’ll be good for business.

Ken Beutke, president of OSF Healthcare, says it’s also a great location to serve the people in the community who need it most. He and Capece spoke about it on WCMY’s Morning Meeting Wednesday.

The location is not as flood prone as the rest of the old Central property and will be raised so it’s even more out of the water.
