Morris State Senator takes issue with reopening plan

Morris State Senator Sue Rezin says rural counties like Grundy and Kendall shouldn’t be in the same region as Cook County for the purposes of reopening. She says the economies in rural counties can’t afford to wait for Cook County. Rezin also thinks the General Assembly ought to have a say in the plan to reopen Illinois after the COVID-19 pandemic. She also objects to the part of the plan that requires a region to go 28 days before reducing restrictions when other parts of the country are having 14-day periods.

In Gov. Pritzker’s plan, the state is divided into four regions that can reopen at different speeds depending on factors like how many COVID-19 cases there are.
