Dixon Republican St. Rep. Tom Demmer believes Illinois should reopen region by region and the governor’s orders should apply only to regions that don’t have plans for pandemics. Recognizing that some parts of the state can handle—or will have—different numbers of corona virus patients than others, he doesn’t think one plan is right for all Illinois.
Demmer says counties should put their own reopening plans together in groups across the state instead of leaving it to the state.
Demmer says the regional plans would have to look at how many hospital beds and ventilators are available and how well local businesses and organizations try to prevent the virus from spreading. He talked about it through the Illinois House Republicans press office.
