Sen. Rezin among lawmakers wanting to return to the Capitol

There are some lawmakers who think the chance to change the way Illinois legislative boundaries are drawn before that’s done again will be a casualty of the corona virus. St. Sen. Sue Rezin wants the legislature to return to Springfield and pass the redistricting amendment on to voters to decide on it in November. The Morris Republican says lawmakers can follow social distancing guidelines and other safety measures to do their jobs.

The redistricting amendment would put an independent commission in charge of drawing Congressional and Illinois legislative district boundaries. Under the current system, that’s done by elected politicians.
