IVCC offering pass-fail grading this semester

Illinois Valley Community College students have until Thursday to decide whether they want to move on from their classes on a pass-fail basis. They can make the decision in the Webadvisor portal. Teachers will still figure out letter grades, so students who take the pass-fail option now can change their minds later and get letter grades after all.

Some colleges are offering pass-fail grading as a way of easing the pressure to get a high grade while students struggle with a lot of stress because of the pandemic. A potential drawback is another college that asks for a transcript may want a grade point average that depends on letter grades.
