North Central Area Transit buses will deliver 270 meals to people’s homes throughout LaSalle County three times a week. Ottawa City Commissioner Wayne Eichelkraut says it’s to help the Voluntary Action Center’s Meals on Wheels program. Since the pandemic started, the center has closed its dine-in cafeterias.
Eichelkraut is expecting NCAT to start with meal delivery three days a week and eventually work up to five days per week. Bus drivers making the deliveries will be paid their wages from a grant.
