Six businesses get preliminary approval for Marseilles loan program

The Marseilles City Council earlier this week approved some applicants for a local business loan program the city is offering to help businesses get thought the COVID-19 pandemic. Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says it’s the first approval needed in the process.

Hollenbeck says an outside financial advisor is handling the business’s financial information and the city won’t have access to it. Businesses can borrow up to $10,000 in no-interest loans from the city. Eight businesses have applied – two applications were sent back to businesses for more information. The money for the program is leftover from an earlier state program.
