Homeless center operations consolidated in Peru

By WCMY News Apr 1, 2020 | 2:20 PM

Forty-four Illinois Valley PADS clients are being housed at the Peru homeless shelter. Executive Director Carol Alcorn says the Ottawa location is closed during the corona virus outbreak to save money.

Alcorn says the Peru location is open ‘round the clock now, so the residents don’t need to leave and risk bringing the virus back with them at night.

Cutting expenses is important, because the Lily Pads stores are closed. Those resale shops provide a big chunk of funding to support the shelters.
